For various reasons, you may want to know how to change the username on Snapchat with iPhone or Android. Well, if you no longer want your friends to see the username associated with your account, there is only one way to deal with them.
Since on Snapchat, for security reasons, it is not possible to change the username, you can do nothing but create a new one, import the contacts and then delete the old one. Alternatively, you can leave the username always and only change the display name. In this guide, I’ll explain how to best solution when you are in such a situation.
How to Change Username on Snapchat:
If you have decided to change the username on Snapchat, the most appropriate solution would be to create a new account, extract the old data from the one you have used so far and then delete it.
Otherwise, you could leave what you already have and limit yourself to changing the profile name that is displayed in the chat. However, the latter may not be an effective option (by continuing to read you will understand why). We see in each case how to proceed.
Note: If you are trying to change your Snapchat username, please be aware that for security reasons, you cannot change the username of an existing account. If you wish, you can delete your account and create a new one with another username. If an account has been deleted or permanently locked, that username will no longer be available.
Creating a New Snapchat Account:
If you decide to proceed with deleting the account and creating a new one, you should first save the contacts. To do this, you need to open Snapchat, tap the Ghost icon and choose My Friends.
In this way, you will see the Snapchat address book. Now, you’ll need to manually note the username of everyone you want to transfer to the new account. To see it, just touch the contact.
Once you have imported the contacts, before proceeding, you will also need to save the photos stored in the Memories section and the most important chats.
Once these preliminary operations have been completed, you can create a new account. To do this, you must exit the current profile to return to the login screen. Next, you need to press the blue Register button to start recording.
At this point, you need to follow the guided procedure, making sure to enter the new user name if required and an alternative email address, which will be associated with the new account (you can change it at any time).
Once you’ve created the new account, all you have to do is add friends. You can do this by tapping the Phantom, choosing Add Friends and then Add by User Name. Once this is done, you will have completed the configuration of the new profile.
All you have to do is delete the old account. You can do this by connecting to this Snapchat support page. After logging in, you need to log in, enter your password and then click Continue to permanently delete the account. Immediately, the profile will be deactivated, but the complete deletion will take effect after 30 days.
Name Change on Snapchat:
Instead of wondering how to change the username on Snapchat, you could just change the name. This information is what most friends you interact with the display. In short, the name is usually your real name. The username, by contrast, is a nickname.
So, if you don’t want others to know who you are, perhaps to use Snapchat anonymously (or almost), you could simply change your name. Thus, only those who know your username can search you on Snapchat.
Among other things, doing this is very easy. It is enough to open Snapchat, touch the Phantom and press on the name. The Edit Name screen will appear, allowing you to make changes to Name and Surname (optional).
Once the appropriate modifications have been made, you can touch the Save button to complete the operation. From now on, friends will see your new name in Snapchat chat.
