Cleanup FileRepository Folder in DriverStore – You can notice that FileRepository size has been increased up to GB’s after using your PC for few years. There are some standard cleanup tools available but they also fail in cleaning up this mess. So in this article “Cleanup FileRepository Folder in DriverStore” we will dig more to utilize this space to the maximum extent. Before going through the solution we would like to discuss bit FileRepository.

What is FileRepository Folder?

Are you using the same windows installation for long and also updating drivers regularly? If yes, then all the previous versions of drivers will be stored in this FileRepository Folder. Windows is taking these copies because if a new version of the driver is unstable then you can restore the previous form here. If you want to check your FileRepository then here is the path ‘C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\. This will look like this:

These files are quite useful also but the point is you can keep them by wasting your disk space.

Note: We would strongly recommend you create a system restore point before deleting FileRepository Folder.
